KAMAL JAJODIA MD
My aim is to provide highly personalized, empathic, and responsive care to all my patients. I have a collaborative treatment style and work in a close partnership with my patients. I am very attentive to their needs between appointments and take my own calls so that problems can be resolved quickly. Well being of patients is my paramount concern.
The initial meeting lasts sixty minutes and includes a full history of the current problems, life history, family history, medical history, and a review of any past treatments. A diagnostic impression and formulation will be given and different treatment options discussed. These may be psychotherapy (short term or long term), laboratory and other tests as necessary, and medication as indicated. In addition, various standard rating scales may be used to determine the severity of the problem, e. g., depression, mania, OCD, anxiety, ADHD, etc. These scales are repeated later to monitor progress once treatment is initiated.
I am very experienced in the use of medications and will make an individual treatment plan with the patient giving therapeutic options. As an internist for many years, I am very cognizant of medication interactions and will carefully monitor for side effects. I have an integrative approach and use nutritional supplements as necessary. I am particularly experienced in treating bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD and trauma.
I use a variety of psychotherapeutic techniques including goal oriented, interpersonal, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Many times short term intense psychotherapy can lead to rapid recovery especially in problems with self-confidence, relationships, and self-destructive behavior.
WOMEN'S HEALTH ISSUES
This is an area of particular interest including treatment in pregnancy, postpartum depression, menopause, and PMDD.
CHRONIC MEDICAL ILLNESSES
Sometimes chronic medical illnesses are associated with psychiatric issues. I use my experience as an internist to recognize such problems, especially in endocrine conditions like diabetes and thyroid problems, neurological conditions like Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis, and terminal illnesses.
I do not accept insurance, including Medicare. I will provide an invoice that can be presented to the insurance companies for reimbursement.
